From dependency to economic independence
For over 25 years, generations of young people in Rivers State have experienced a decline in their economic fortunes. A culture of economic inactivity has culminated in violence, crime and a get-rich-quick mentality.
Our strategy is to go beyond sharing food and money by tackling the root causes, such as a lack of self-belief and a dependency mindset.
Over 70% of our population is under the age of 30 years. However, the majority of young people are left without employment or self-employment opportunities.
This has created a system of dependency that holds back our communities, keeping people from achieving their full potential.
But we believe in a new way forward – one where we invest in our own people and build sustainable economic independence, starting right here in our communities in Rivers State.
Our mission is to empower the youth and women of the Niger Delta, beginning in Rivers State. We’re launching a community development platform focused on providing civic and entrepreneurial training, building essential skills, and connecting local projects to diaspora investors.
We are not a political movement, pressure group or involved in any activism. We are a community-led organisation with the sole aim of helping to change minds, build confidence and independence in young people.
We will partner with local authorities, state and federal government agencies when needed, but our focus is on people-driven solutions.
Together, we can create a sustainable, prosperous Rivers State for the future. You have a role to play by joining this initiative in any way that will move us forward.
Your support can help us unlock the immense human and natural resources of our region.
Will you join us in this vital mission?

Let’s build a future where every citizen of Rivers State has the opportunity to succeed.
We are not set up to feed the multitude; we are an organisation that recognises that all things are possible if we try. We believe that to change one’s physical existence is a process that begins with a sincere renewal of the mind. Our mission is to create a system that is strong and independent of government and the established business sector.
Please join us as a volunteer, donor, mentor or facilitator to renew young minds and change lives.
Everyone has a significant part to play. Choose a project to support. You’ll be able to transform the lives of young people you may never meet. Here at the HCDF, we provide the net, not the fish.

Our mission and goals are transformational. We do not share food or cash. We help young people to transform their minds through confidence and capacity-building workshops. We consider it a huge success if we help one person gain confidence to move from economic inactivity into employment, self-employment or higher education.
Goals: Young people to gain awareness and self-confidence.
Goals: Get youths into jobs, self-employment or higher education.
We help young people aged 16 to 35. We aim to create awareness and skills in areas such as civics, self-development, leadership, and entrepreneurship. We do not share money or food; our mission is to develop young people into confident, focused, driven people, with the boldness to reject dependency culture.
We are providing opportunities for young people to transform themselves and follow the path of freedom and economic independence, or continue with the toxic culture of dependency, beggary, servitude and sustained poverty.
Our work focuses on attracting investment from the diaspora and different levels of government to rural areas. We aim to transform traditional occupations into viable small businesses, making rural communities great places for young people to live and thrive.

You can find a list of specific items and expenses on our website as needs arise. Simply let us know which item you’d like to donate, and we’ll provide you with details on how to get it to us. This way, you can see exactly how your generosity is making a difference.
